Get more information about Kleresca® Rosacea Treatment

How is Kleresca® Rosacea Treatment different from other available treatments for this skin disorder?

Kleresca® biophotonic platform offers a non-invasive treatment that uses fluorescent light energy. The treatment doesn’t cause destruction to the skin but acts by stimulating your skin’s own repair mechanisms.

Kleresca® Rosacea treatment differs from other light treatments due to its unique mode of action, using fluorescent light energy that stimulates your skin at a cellular level. The treatment is designed to target the signs and symptoms of rosacea. It reduces inflammation, reducing the presence of papules and pustules. It reduces erythema and blushing by improving microvascularisation. It works to reduce the overall stress level of the skin, thereby reducing the feeling of burning and stinging and it induces a healing response, improving the overall skin quality.

What are biophotonics?

In this context, biophotonic refers to the interaction between the light and your skin. Kleresca®’s biophotonic treatment represents a completely new way of treating your rosacea.

What is the meaning of photobiomodulation?

Photobiomodulation is a mechanism where light stimulates the cells in the body leading to different beneficial clinical effects and stimulation of its own repair mechanisms. It has already been used for the treatment of acne and for skin Rejuvenation with very positive results. Photobiomodulation is also being applied clinically in the treatment of soft tissue injuries and the acceleration of wound healing.

What are the benefits of Kleresca® Rosacea Treatment?

Kleresca® Rosacea Treatment has been specially designed to target different signs and symptoms of rosacea.

  • Reduces inflammation, reducing the presence of papules and pustules
  • Reduces erythema and blushing by improving microvascularization
  • Reduces the overall stress level of the skin, thereby reducing the feeling of burning and stinging
  • Induces a healing response, improving the overall skin quality

What is microvascularization and why is that a benefit?

The treatment promotes the development of blood vessels in the treated skin. Contrary to what you might think, this actually reduces erythema and blushing. New blood vessels can disperse the blood accumulated and at the same time nourish the cells with oxygen and nutrients, helping them in their activities.

Why does the treatment involve a gel and a lamp?

Kleresca® biophotonic treatments are inspired by photosynthesis. Chromophores in the gel convert light waves from the lamp into a fluorescent light energy that stimulates the skin’s own repair mechanisms. Thanks to the gel, the fluorescent light energy generated covers the green, yellow, orange and red spectrum of light.

We gain the benefits of the blue light generated by the Kleresca® Lamp as well as the deeper effects in the tissue that the fluorescent light energy covers. The different wavelengths have the ability to penetrate to various depths of the skin and to stimulate the skin cells.

Is the treatment painful?

Patients that use the treatments generally describe it as pleasant and comfortable. They mention a warm and tingling sensation while they are under the lamp.

The treatment is non-invasive and non-destructive, and it doesn’t cause any harm to the skin tissue. The treatment acts by inducing the skin’s own healing mechanisms.

Does the gel penetrate the skin?

No. The gel stays on the surface of the skin and its purpose is to convert the light emitted by the lamp into fluorescent light energy. This fluorescent light energy then provides beneficial effects by way of modulation of the biological processes in the multiple layers of the skin.

Is the light harmful?

No. The Kleresca® Rosacea Treatment uses a multi-LED lamp as its energy source and emits in the blue light area, within the visible light spectrum. No harmful UV light is emitted by the system. Clinical trials have shown that Kleresca® is a well-tolerated treatment with no serious side effects reported.

Can I use Kleresca® during summer?

Yes. Kleresca® Treatments don’t induce photosensitivity and patients don’t need to avoid sun exposure during or after the treatments. However, people should protect themselves against the harmful UV light of the sun with sun screen.

Kleresca® Biophotonic treatments are generally gentle and comfortable. Being non-invasive, there is no destruction or removal of the skin’s natural barriers. The gel used during the treatment is not absorbed by the skin, so no substance in it can induce photosensitive reaction.

Where can I get the treatment?

The treatment is offered exclusively in selected and certified Kleresca® clinics. Find your nearest clinic here.

Is Kleresca® Rosacea Treatment safe?

Yes. The technology has been on the market since 2014.

Side effects – seen in some patients – are all transient and may include redness, swelling and hyperpigmentation (bronzing of an area of the skin). Side effects impact patients differently – if at all – so we always recommend talking to your clinician before beginning treatment.

What is the recommended protocol?

The recommended protocol depends on the severity of the rosacea type and the severity of its symptoms.

In general, 4 to 6 sessions are recommended. Consult your doctor to find out the most appropriate protocol for your rosacea.
